ANNOUNCEMENTS
Dwell: A Month of Prayer
This month, we’re intentionally focusing on prayer—slowing down, seeking Jesus, and learning to dwell in His presence. Every weekday, we’ll send a short devotional straight to your phone to help you pause, pray, and turn your attention to Him. Join us as we make space to dwell with Jesus and grow deeper in prayer together. Text DAILY to 94000 to join us!
Starting Point for Kids & Parents, October 11
Is your 3rd–5th Grader asking questions about following Jesus, baptism, or faith? Starting Point is a one-hour experience designed for kids and parents to explore those questions together, learn what the Bible teaches about salvation, and gain practical tools for continuing faith conversations at home. Join us Sunday, October 11 in the large group room at both campuses: Ball Road at 9:00am and Knox Center at 11:15am. Learn more and register at onelifeknox.com/events.
Trunks, Treats, and Stars, October 23rd
Join us for a fun, family-friendly monster-themed fall night featuring a Trunk or Treat, games, food, photo opportunities, and a movie under the stars! The fun begins Friday, October 23 at 6:00 PM at both OneLife campuses. Kids are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite family friendly costumes, and families should bring a blanket or lawn chairs to settle in for our outdoor showing of Monsters, Inc. Mark your calendars, invite your friends, and join us for a monster of a night!
Baptism
If you’ve given your life to Jesus but haven’t gone public with your story through baptism, now is the time to take that step! Baptism is an opportunity to publicly declare your faith, celebrate God’s work in your life, and take the next step in your journey with Jesus. We would love to walk with you through this process, answer your questions, and help you experience the joy of declaring your faith through baptism.
Mark the baptism box on your Connection Card, and we’ll help you get started!

MULTIPLICATION
Share spiritual/missional conversations you've had where you live, work, and play:
- Who did you have a conversation with that took a spiritual/missional turn this week?
- What questions did you ask to discover where God is at work in their life, even if they are not aware?
- How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
- How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
- Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?

WHAT'S NEXT?
- Discuss the next step for your micro church. When will we gather again, and which purpose will it fulfill (missions, fellowship/care, growth, worship, multiplication)?

Bottom Line: When someone I love is in the battle, I can stand in the gap
Exodus 17:9 NLT
Moses commanded Joshua, “Choose some men to go out and fight the army of Amalek for us. Tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill, holding the staff of God in my hand.”
Deuteronomy 25:17-18 NLT
“Never forget what the Amalekites did to you as you came from Egypt. They attacked you when you were exhausted and weary, and they struck down those who were straggling behind. They had no fear of God.
Exodus 17:9-10 NLT
Moses commanded Joshua, “Choose some men to go out and fight the army of Amalek for us. Tomorrow, I will stand at the top of the hill, holding the staff of God in my hand.”So Joshua did what Moses had commanded and fought the army of Amalek. Meanwhile, Moses, Aaron, and Hur climbed to the top of a nearby hill.
1. Someone around me is fighting a battle.
Instead of only asking, "God, help me with my battles."
Start also asking, "God, who around me needs someone standing in the gap?"
Instead of only asking, "God, help me with my battles."
Start also asking, "God, who around me needs someone standing in the gap?"
Exodus 17:10-11 NLT
So Joshua did what Moses had commanded and fought the army of Amalek. Meanwhile, Moses, Aaron, and Hur climbed to the top of a nearby hill.As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage.
2. I don't have to fight their battle to stand in the gap.
Exodus 17:12 NLT
Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset.
Galatians 6:2 NIV
Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Hebrews 7:25 NIV
Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
Romans 8:34 NIV
Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.
4. Jesus stands in the gap for me.
Exodus 17:13 NLT
As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle.
3. Standing in the gap means carrying someone when they can't carry themselves.

START TALKING:
When have you needed someone to help you with something from a long way away, and even though they couldn't fix the specific problem for you, they were able to help you make it happen?
START THINKING:
Read Exodus 17:9-10.
Why didn't Moses, Aaron, and Hur fight the battle, too? What is the significance of this being God's plan for this battle?
Read Exodus 17:11-12.
Read Exodus 17:11-12.
There was nothing magical about the staff. This was an act of faith. What do you think God wanted Moses, the people of Israel, and now us to learn from this part of the story?
Read Exodus 17:13.
Read Exodus 17:13.
Who was really responsible for the battle being won? Who was really fighting?
START SHARING:
In this story, the battle is obvious. In most examples, the battle may not be so explicit unless we are paying attention. How can you tell when someone is in a battle? What is required to know that someone you care about is in the midst of a battle?
Moses didn't have to pick up a sword to be part of fighting the battle. When has someone stood in the gap for you when you were in the midst of a battle? When has God used you to stand in the gap for someone else?
Read Hebrews 7:25 and Romans 8:34. When have you come out of a battle and as you looked back, you saw how Jesus had been standing the gap for you? How did you see it or sense it in the midst of the battle? How can this help you as you prepare to go into the next battle or when you are in the midst of the next battle?

START DOING:
Read Galatians 6:2. What can we do as a micro church to stand in the gap for each other?
Who is someone far from God--maybe your "one"--that you can stand in the gap for? How will you do that this week?
