Bottom Line: The gospel unites us where the world divides us.

Ephesians 2:11-12 NLT

Don’t forget that you Gentiles used to be outsiders. You were called “uncircumcised heathens” by the Jews, who were proud of their circumcision, even though it affected only their bodies and not their hearts.In those days you were living apart from Christ. You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel, and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them. You lived in this world without God and without hope.

1. Unity begins with humility.

Ephesians 2:13 NLT

But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ.

2. Unity is a gift.

Ephesians 2:14 NLT

For Christ himself has brought peace to us. He united Jews and Gentiles into one people when, in his own body on the cross, he broke down the wall of hostility that separated us.

3. We are all the same at the foot of the cross.

START TALKING:
What are divisions among people that you grew up assuming or believing had to keep you separated from other people?

START THINKING:
Read Ephesians 2:11.

Where do you see religion at work in this verse (as opposed to a true relationship with God)?

What are ways that we see today where religion leads people to change things or focus on things related to appearance but that doesn't mean there is necessarily a heart change?

Read Ephesians 2:12.

What does this verse teach is the reason that people live without hope? What is the solution to having hope?

START SHARING:
Tearing down walls starts with remembering who you were before Jesus. Share who you were before Christ. What was different? How did you see the world differently? How were your priorities different?

Read Ephesians 2:13-14.

Each person in the micro church share your "but now" moment. When did Jesus tear down the walls for you? What led you to that moment?

If you were to be honest, what person or people do you find yourself divided from or even hostile toward when you only consider them as different than you without remembering who you were before Jesus?

START DOING:
Read Ephesians 2:14 again.

What do you think this verse teaches you to do differently when it comes to people that you might otherwise be naturally divided from?

What can you do every day to start with humility and to allow the gospel to be the most important thing that you think about when it comes to people who are different than you?

How can these differences open up opportunity for you to share your story of Jesus in your life?

START PRAYING:
Pray for each person in the micro church to humble themselves in each relationship they encounter so that the gospel is the most important uniting peace in our lives. Pray that our church would experience supernatural unity that reflects and points back to Jesus.
