ANNOUNCEMENTS

I Love My Church T-shirts - August 14

Next Sunday, August 14 is “I Love My Church” day. Everyone that attends will get an “I Love My Church” t-shirt in a brand new color for 2022! But more important than that, this is a day to get fired up for the role you have to play in leaving your mark in your circles where you live, work, and play - and invite them to come experience Jesus with you!

Kid City “Pop Up” Sunday - August 14
Sunday, August 14 Kid City is having “Pop Up” Sunday for kindergarten through 5th grade. This means that August 7 will be the last Sunday in their current grade level, and on August 14th they’ll “pop up” to their new grade for the new school year. Plus, it’ll be a popcorn themed day which will be a lot of fun for our kiddos. So we can’t wait to see you then!

The Tour - August 28

Stay after the service on Sunday, August 28  for a 15 minute meet ‘n greet that we call “The Tour.” We’ll have some light snacks and refreshments, take a tour around the facility, learn more about why we do many of the things we do, and - most importantly- give you a chance to meet some people! Just look for the sign that says “The Tour.” And if you have kids, they can remain in Kid City until The Tour is over.

MyOneLife - A 4-Week Small Group Experience, Starts September 4

If you’re newer to OneLife or have been attending for a while but haven’t gotten involved, then MyOneLife is your next step! It’s a 4-week small group experience where you’ll learn about the history, vision & values of our church, discover your personal mission and spiritual gifts, and have opportunities to get involved. MyOneLife takes place on Sunday mornings during the 10:45am service in the Meeting Room at each of our campuses starting on September 4. For more information, check the “MyOneLife” box on your Connection Card.

BOTTOM LINE: Leaving my mark on the next generation isn’t about what I know but who I know

Acts 4:13 NLT
13 The members of the council were amazed when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, for they could see that they were ordinary men with no special training in the Scriptures. They also recognized them as men who had been with Jesus.

Acts 4:16-18 NLT
16 “What should we do with these men?” they asked each other. “We can’t deny that they have performed a miraculous sign, and everybody in Jerusalem knows about it. 17 But to keep them from spreading their propaganda any further, we must warn them not to speak to anyone in Jesus’ name again.” 18 So they called the apostles back in and commanded them never again to speak or teach in the name of Jesus.

1. You don’t need all the answers. You just have to be willing to follow.

2. Qualification comes from being with Jesus.

3. Obey God and trust Him with the rest.

START TALKING
When was a moment when who you knew was more important than what you knew? Maybe it was at your job, or you were able to experience something special cause you knew someone on the inside.

Where and when have you felt like you left your mark on the next generation?

START THINKING
Read Acts 4:13. What were the two things that the religious leaders knew to be true about Peter and John? Why do you think this is significant? When we think of people who leave their mark, do we immediately think of "ordinary" people? Why or why not?

Read Acts 4:16-18. Knowing that some of these men giving the command were the same that crucified Jesus, how do you think you would respond to the command? Why do you think they wanted to silence Peter and John?

Read Acts 4:19-20. Why do you think Peter and John were so bold and willing to stand up for what they belief? Have you ever experienced something that you couldn't help but tell others about it?

START SHARING
How have you allowed fear or doubt to stop you from making a difference?

When was a time that you left your mark with out even realizing and it wasn't until later on that someone pointed it out?

START DOING
What are some steps you can take this week to focus on sharing Jesus, the who you know, and not what you know?

Is there someone from the next generation that you can actively start investing in this week? Whether its a family in your neighborhood, a coworker, or volunteering with the family ministry, how are you going to start leaving your mark on the next generation?

START PRAYING
Pray for the students and teachers you know. If you have students or teachers in your group ask them for specific prayers for the upcoming school year.

MULTIPLICATION
Share spiritual/missional conversations you've had where you live, work, and play:

Who did you have a conversation with that took a spiritual/missional turn this week?
What questions did you ask to discover where God is at work in their life, even if they are not aware?
How were you able to share your story of life change or how you have experienced Jesus?
How can you be intentional this week with people where you live, work, and play to have spiritual/missional conversations if the opportunity arises?
Who in your life do you think could be disciple-able or open to spiritual/missional conversations?
